Welcome to Westbury Farm

Westbury Farm is synonymous with family. Both human and equine. Besides our family atmosphere we offer training, re-training, coaching, western riding lessons, boarding and over night stabling from May to September. Sally and Lynne have completed the first level of Equine Assisted Personal Development. They are both recipients of Bronze Certification in ground work and riding skills awarded by Chris Irwin, internationally recognized trainer and personal development coach. Through our equine brokerage service we can help you with your buying and selling needs. Enjoy your tour.

Equine Muscle Release Therapy (EMRT) First Aid Course

The EMRT demonstration held here in October was very informative, and from the feedback we have received a great success. Thanks to Sophie Vertigan, EMRT Registered Practitioner and her lovely assistant Gloria who will be graduating as a practitioner later in October.

We had a number of spectators asking how they could learn some of the EMRT moves to use on their own horses. Sophie suggested an EMRT First Aid Course which teaches three very useful and basic moves that will help any horse relax in just about any situation.

Practical tips for selling a horse

As lists work well for me I begin by writing down what I know about the horse and what his or her selling points maybe. Having said that, I would suggest you put your feelings and emotions about the horse aside and state the facts. Your feelings for the horse belong to you. They are a part of the relationship you and the horse have built together. The relationship the horse and the new owner build will likely be quite different. Not better or worse, just different.

Practical Tips for Buying a Horse:

I’m a big believer in lists. Write down what you are looking for in a horse. What type of activities you want the horse to perform i.e., showing in pleasure classes or gaming, pleasure or competitive trail riding, endurance riding or family horse, etc. The activities you expect from the horse may determine which breed is best suited to your needs.
